Visiting lecturer- Lorna Apps- Woodland

Lorna is an artist and designer living in Portsmouth who produces amazing collage work for editorial clients, private commissions and for sale. She trained in Illustration at the University of Portsmouth and was one of the first cohort of degree students back in 1996. She gave a lecture on her passion for collecting, the art of collage and then showed the students recent work. After the lecture she ran a workshop for our level 6 students. They are now all creating a piece of work in response to this using their self directed concepts and themes.

Danielle Taylor

Hi Maureen,

Just thought I'd send you an email to let you know about a competition that I have won. I entered a competition run by John Lewis & Waitrose to design their annual Bonus Poster. This will be put up in every branch across the country to announce their bonus figure on March 6th and also printed on the cover of the March edition of their internal magazine, The Gazette. I found out this week that my entry was successful and in doing so have won myself an iPad mini! It's so exciting knowing that my poster will be seen by everyone within the company, they are doing a whole page feature on me in the next edition of the internal magazine (I have a photographer coming to take my picture and interview me this coming wednesday!!).

Exploring Print

Level 4 students have been exploring print techniques in the Methodology unit. Extending their investigations into their chosen animals, students have been seeing how their work translates into print. Christian Bennett in the print room has been guiding them through the process and the results have been exciting. The next step is mechanising the animals with collage. Enjoy.
