Hi Maureen

Hope you and the rest of the team are well -

You may remember me - I graduated the illustration course at Portsmouth University back in 2005, and since then I've been pretty busy!

After working in various marketing roles, I launched Inkygoodness in 2008 – a showcase for illustration, character design and graphic art, curating numerous exhibitions and events in and around the UK for like-minded illustrators. Fast forward six years and we've done shows in London, Birmingham and Bristol and a couple further afield in Antwerp and Berlin – notably at Pictoplasma Character Design festival in 2011.

'Character Totem' presented 35 hand painted totem poles by international artists and illustrators, exhibited in Berlin and Birmingham in the same year. Our most recent exhibition happened in London last Spring - 'Beermat Characters' featured over 85 customised beermats displayed at The Coningsby Gallery. Alongside and since then I have worked as a freelance journalist / design writer, reporting on illustration and graphic design for a growing number of publications including Creative Review, Communication Arts, IdN, Digital Arts and IdeasTap. I am also co-organiser of Glug Birmingham which launched in August 2014 – a creative networking event for the design industry.

Much of the writing I do is focused on creative business, developing skills, practical tools & tips for illustrators, and interviewing artists on their creative process, so it was a natural progression for me to start working with educational institutions. Having worked at both Worcester University and Birmingham Institute of Art & Design in recent months, I wanted to get in touch with you to see if there might be an opportunity to get involved with your Illustration course in a similar way.

There are a few videos on our vimeo page here of past projects & exhibitions that you can take a look at: https://vimeo.com/inkygoodness
And of course plenty of visual eye candy can be found on the inkygoodness website: http://inkygoodness.com

Thanks Maureen. Look forward to hearing from you!
Best regards
Lisa Hassell
