Students’ talent on display in shop window

The students’ artwork is displayed in Southsea Rock on Marmion Road. They teamed up with shop owner Linzi Kelly to gain experience of working with a local business and taking their products to market.

Linzi said: “This partnership has given students the opportunity to think about packaging and pricing their work for retail. It has been very enjoyable to collaborate with such talented students and a pleasure to see their finished products.”The students’ artwork is displayed in Southsea Rock on Marmion Road. Student Emily Allison produced a fold-out book called Hello Portsmouth that displays Portsmouth’s cultural heritage through its iconic landmarks and seaside identity, while Corine Davies created work that she hoped would capture the Southsea vibe.

Senior lecturer Claire Sambrook, from the School of Creative Technologies, helped organise the project as part of a professional practice unit on the students’ course. She said: “It is vital for our students to work in a commercial sense and Linzi has offered invaluable advice on how to price up, display and sell their work.”
