Alumni - Linda Kemoli recent graduate from MA Illustration

Here is a lovely update from Linda Kemoli, who graduated from MA Illustration in September. She is now living and working in Nairobi. I know you'll be pleased to see how she's doing.

Hello Jackie and Ros, I am fine. Still adjusting to being back home since it is a familiar but different environment after having been away for quite some time. But I am grateful to be with family and friends and to continue my work with Mtree, the creative arts NGO that I had mentioned to you when we last met up for coffee.

Other than that, I wanted to share some good news with you. I recently held my first solo art exhibition at a member's club here called the Karen Country Club and the evening was a success.I exhibited about fifteen of my best pieces and had about 40 guests attend the event. The exhibition was held on the 12th of February and it was called Valentine Expressions. The work was then left on display up until the 28th of February and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. My work is still on display as the club has not asked for them to be taken down and I hear that there were some guests that were interested in purchasing a few of the pieces. Please find attached a few photos from the event.

I have also been in talks with the UoP Senior Global Officer (Africa) to pitch the work that my organization does with children here and find out if the university would be willing to partner with us so that UoP students can come for the programme as a part of their internship. She seemed very interested to hear more so I shall keep you informed on how that turns out.

Lastly, I received the email regarding the upcoming graduation ceremony and would really love to come back to Portsmouth to attend it. I will let you know how that goes as well.

Again, I hope you are both well and that the weather is getting better as you head into Spring!

Talk to you soon!
Best, Linda
